Soar Tackle is a small family run business in Kegworth, just on the Nottinghamshire - Leicestershire – Derbyshire borders. We are not some hotch potch Ebay/ Internet company, everyone at Soar Tackle prides themselves in providing quality fishing tackle & bait along with real help and advice whether online, or in store.
Scott Johnson, founder and owner of Soar Tackle, has been fishing for well over 30 years. Scott started his main angling career fishing the local match circuits in and around Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, picking up a number of trophies along the way. In early 2000 Scott eventually gave up the match scene mainly due to the increase of commercials. Having honed his craft on the rivers Scott turned to specimen hunting on rivers and still waters.
With an in depth local knowledge of many waters, especially his much loved stretch of the river Soar at Sutton Bonington. Scott is a bit of a traditional angler prefering to fish float rods and feeders, earning him the nick name "Stickfloat" some 20 odd years ago. That said he is a keen pole angler on canals and still waters.
Scott say's “My aim is to pass my knowledge on to fellow anglers young and old. I enjoy nothing more than helping someone on the bank and seeing that with just a few slight changes, their angling can improve massively. After all, if it wasn't for people like Ivan Marks & Ian Heaps to name but a few helping me I wouldn't of learnt half of what I know now.”
A respected angler Scott has become an Angling Trust coach to help pass on his knowledge. He has also contributed to a few popular fishing publications, as well as having an input in to Marukyu UK.
