Beyond the Shop: Competing at the Highest Level

"As an avid coarse angler, when I’m away from the shop, I’m competing in matches all over the country.

I’ve been fortunate enough to test myself and my team against some of the best anglers in the world. From World Champions and England internationals to elite local sides like Tackle & Baits, the standard is incredibly high. Whether it’s competing in the pinnacle of team fishing in Division 1 (and now Div 2), the Angling Trust Winter League (Soar Valley), or the Canal & River Trust Pairs, these stages are a true test of ability. I’ve often found myself pegged next to legends like Alan Scotthorne, Sean Ashby, and Hadrian Whittle.

I also compete as an individual in major opens, including RiverFest qualifiers and the River Soar Championship.

To compete at this level, everything—from my terminal tackle to my bait—has to be spot on. I need 100% confidence in every single component. The gear and bait I use in these matches are exactly what you’ll find on the shelves at Soar Tackle. My goal is to give you that same confidence when you're out on the bank, whether you're fishing for pleasure or for a trophy.
