Another classic groundbait that found its origins right here in the UK. Based on Van Den Eynde Supercup, Super Black is a dedicated twist aimed more at targeting Roach.

The Difference Between Supercup & Super Black

In Super Black, you'll find fine crushed hemp and aniseed with a subtle coconut aroma—a proper 'Classic Roach' scent profile.

It is still a fine groundbait with a low food content, but it takes on a little more water than standard Supercup, giving it slightly more weight. That extra weight makes it ideal for slow to medium flows, like the River Soar.

It is brilliant for Roach and other silvers in depths up to about 8 feet, and an absolute winner in the winter when fishing canals that are gin clear.

How I Use Super Black

I use Super Black a lot—it's my go-to groundbait for Roach. It's not quite as sweet as Supercup, and with the addition of fine crushed hemp and aniseed, you'll find Super Black has a little more activity in the water. Being a fine mix, it won't overfeed your swim, which is crucial when fishing canals.

That said, it's a very versatile groundbait. You can easily use it for creating a top-to-bottom cloud or for balling in on the pole line.

• Using it Neat: Use it straight out of the bag when there is little to medium flow.

• Stiffening the Mix: By adding VDE Turbo or VDE Secret, you can stiffen the mix up for more flow. Secret and Super Black combined is a cracking mix for the Trent.

• Deeper Swims: For deeper water, adding leam gives you that extra weight to reach the deck without binding the mix up too much.
