Soar Tackle Ready-Tied Stick Float Rigs
4 x No'4 (0.80g) Size 16 whisker barbed Rig Set up by me, exactly how I’d fish them myself.
If you’ve ever found tying your own river rigs a bit of a struggle, or you’re just not sure how to get the shotting right on a stick float, these are for you. I’ve had plenty of people ask me for these over the years, so I decided to start tying them up to help you get straight out and fishing without the faff.
There is nothing better than watching a stick float trot down a steady glide for Roach and Dace, and these rigs are designed to help you do just that.
My Pre-Tied Rigs, in a nutshell:
-
No Guesswork: I’ve put the shot on for you in the same patterns I use when I’m out pleasure fishing or in a match. It’s balanced and ready to go.
-
Simple to Attach: You don’t need to be a knot expert. There is a simple loop at the top—just tie your mainline to it, pull the float over the join, and you’re in business.
-
Rig Length: I’ve set the line length to match what the float is best at. For example, a 4 x No. 4 (0.80g) float usually works best in about 6ft of water, so I’ve built it on 5ft of line.
-
Easy to Adjust: If your peg is a bit shallower, you can just snip the top and tie a new loop to shorten it down.
The Setup:
-
The Float: A reliable Wire Stem Stick Float—great for staying steady in moving water.
-
The Line: Main 0.14mm (4.4lb) Hook length 0.12mm (3lb) A good rig and hook line that won't let you down.
-
The Video: If you're not 100% sure how to join it to your reel line, I’ve made a quick video on YouTube showing you exactly how I do it here: [Link to YouTube Video]
A Note from Me: "I know that technical talk can be a bit much sometimes, and nobody likes feeling like they have to ask a 'silly' question. I tie these so you can just turn up at the river, get set up in seconds, and have the confidence that your float is going to work exactly how it should. It saves you time, saves your eyes, and lets you get on with the best bit—catching fish."
Don't forget: These rigs are just a starting point; you can easily tweak them to suit your own needs and the conditions on the day.
