As the name suggests, this is a dedicated Roach groundbait—though don't limit it to just Roach. Dace and Chub absolutely love this mix as well.

The Mix Profile

Super Roach Heavy is a fairly fine mix, packed with groundnut flour and rich in active particles like crushed hemp, beet molasses, and palm kernel. It continually releases fine particles to draw Roach and other silverfish into your swim.

The Heavy Black version offers extra binding power compared to Super Roach Classic. It has a little more bind than River Ace, but isn't quite as heavy or sticky as Secret.

Because it takes on a surprising amount of water, that absorption is what gives it its true weight.

• My Top Mixing Tip: Always take your time when wetting this mix up. Add water gradually and give it 5 to 10 minutes between stages so the fine particles can fully absorb the moisture before making your final adjustment.

This is an exceptionally versatile groundbait, whether straight out of the bag or blended with other mixes. The extra binding power allows you to tailor your mix precisely to the conditions and venue in front of you:

• Tweaking The Breakdown with Super Black: Blending it with standard Super Black lets you fine-tune the breakdown time while keeping the mix dark and attractive.

• The Supercup Cloud: You can cut it with VDE Supercup in a similar way to my tips with Secret—timing the breakdown so the ball starts to open right as it nears the deck, kick-starting your swim.

• Big River Nets: Super Roach Heavy Black is an absolute winner on rivers like the Trent and the Wye, especially when big nets of quality Roach, Dace, and silvers are on the cards.
